Herbal syrups are perhaps one of the most delicious ways to consume herbs! Herbal infused syrups are concentrated herbal teas, preserved in sugar or honey. Herbal syrups make a delicious addition to beverages and food! Combine a spoonful or two of syrup with carbonated water to create a tasty herbal soda. You can also make a quick cup of tea by adding a spoonful of syrup to hot water. Enjoy your syrup by drizzling it on foods like yogurt, muesli, biscuits, and ice cream. You can also make herbal-syrup-ice cubes by pouring the syrup into ice cube trays to freeze. If you freeze them, you will lose that nice syrupy consistency but maintain the flavor. Herbal syrup ice cubes are a great way to flavor and sweeten lemonade and iced tea.
In addition to the rose syrup which I presented to you earlier, I am going to share my two other favorite syrups.

Elderflower- Syrup

A lovely combination of citrus and floral infusion that takes flavor to entirely new level of deliciousness.

Elderflower-syrup

Ingredients:

– I cup water

– 1 cup water

– 1 1/2 teaspoon citric acid powder

– 1 /2 cup dried elderflower

– Extra: 1/2 lemon sliced or 1/2 orange sliced

Instructions:
– Add the water, sugar and dried elderflower to a pan and bring to boil.

– Add the citric acid until dissolved.

– Simmer for 15-20min.

– Strain the liquid into a jar and keep in the fridge.

– Additionally you can add slices of lemon and orange to the jar. This will give your syrup a nice citrus touch.

Lavender- syrup

Lavender syrup is a brilliant way to add a floral flavor to a variety of beverages. It’s easy and inexpensive to make at home and fills your kitchen with a fresh fragrance. This recipe is as easy as any other simple syrup. You can use the ratios in this recipes to make your own herbal syrup choosing the herbs that suit you best!

Ingredients:

– 1 cup water

– 1 cup sugar

– 1 1/2 teaspoon citric acid powder

– 1/4 cup dried lavender

Instructions:

– Add the water, sugar and lavender to a pan and bring to boil.

– Add the citric acid until dissolved.

– Simmer for 15-20min.

– Strain the liquid into a jar and keep in the fridge.

Tip: If you decide to use honey instead of sugar, heat very gently until the honey just dissolves without boiling the syrup. This helps to preserve the beneficial, naturally occurring enzymes in the honey.

You can try creating your own tasty herbal syrups by mixing different herbs.
